Sloppy Joe's

This recipe came from my Aunt JoAnn Williams' mother, Vi Sonnabend. Vi cooked for many years in the McKennan Hospital kitchen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
NOTES : You may want to half this recipe. It freezes and reheats well.
Quantity Unit Ingredient 
5 onionschopped 
6 cups water
12 pounds hamburger
7 teaspoons chili powder
7 teaspoons prepared mustard
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
6 cups catsup

In a large pot, cook onions in water until clear.

Add other ingredients and cook, stirring often, until thickened.
